I like to play freerolls too to try out different poker styles and try some different things that I don't want to test out in a bigger stakes tournament.
Freerolls don't have quite the calibre of play to help you improve your game a lot, but it still gives you a real live tournament setting to try some new things. It's still a great way for beginners to work on their game.
