Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu plays at PokerStars. His nickname is Kid Poker, which he uses as his online screen name as well.
Daniel Negreanu was a high school drop out who made it big in the poker world.
Negreanu was born in Toronto in Canada in July 1974. After dropping out from high school he accumulated a bankroll and at the age of 21 went to Las Vegas hoping to make it rich. Destiny willed otherwise and he returned home empty handed.
But Negreanu persevered. In 1997 he not only won two events at the World poker Finals winning $133,600 but also became the tournament's best player. He carried on the good work next year, by winning $169,460 at the $2,000 Pot Limit Hold'em in the 1998 World Series of Poker. He thus became youngest person to win a WSOP bracelet, till his record was beaten in 2004. Negreanu registered success after success. He has two World Poker Tour wins, three World Series bracelets and 11 final tables. He was the World Series of Poker player of the year in 2004 and World Poker Tour player of the year in 2005.
For a while he was the Poker Ambassador at the Wynn Las Vegas. In December 2005 Negreanu started his own online poker card room. His website, Full Contact Poker, features his blog, poker articles, tips and more. He also sponsored promising players from his card room.
Negreanu has a formidable reputation of being able to read his opponents. He keeps track of what kind of hands his opponents play and how well they play the hands. Negreanu is also a prolific writer, having written articles and contributed to books. His book, Daniel Negreanu's Power Hold'em Strategy, to which a galaxy of poker stars has contributed, will be released in 2008. He has also tutored players, both online and personally. Till the end of 2007 his live tournament winnings were in excess of $9.9 million, the third highest in the history of poker.
