Barry Greenstein
A poker player who has been nicknamed the “Robin Hood” of Poker is Berry Greenstein and for good reason, his amount of tournaments where he has left in the money is staggering.
Cards and the game of poker came his way early in life, when he learned to play cards with his parents, playing games such as Gin Rummy, hearts and poker. He learned to play so well that by the age of 13 he was playing for money and often making $50 a night playing poker.
Although he enjoyed poker he craved education and at the age of 15 created his own computer software and considered becoming a physician and finding cures for disease.
He was born and raised in Scottsdale Illinois and attended the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science. After which he went on to undergraduate studies to earn a Ph.D in mathematics and he also earned a doctorate degree. During this time he gave up playing poker and moved to Silicon Valley and with four other people he began what is known as Symantec along with designing software programs.
Today he has company with his son who also plays pro poker named Joe Sebok and the company is called GreenBok, he wrote a book called Ace on the River and was the software developer along with Symantec the creators of Norton Anti-Virus.
Greenstein is a member of the Team PokerStars and he also was involved in the development of the software that is used in the poker room at Poker Stars.
